Folk Fest in the City a Rollicking Good Time!

Folk Fest in the City a Rollicking Good Time!

We had such a fantastic time last Friday at Folk Fest in the City – our annual fundraising gala. Thanks to all in attendance for making it a night to remember!

We are so thrilled that your generosity at the event helped us raise $82,000, proceeds from which will go toward our community programs! Ace Burpee brought his own hilarious brand of humour to the evening – revving up the room during the live auction and even joining Black Sea Station on stage, breaking out a tambourine for the final song of the evening.

Performances by Artistic Achievement Award winner David Lindley, our Stingray Rising Star recipient Adam Hanney and Black Sea Station moved and rocked, in turns, an audience that could not get enough of the great tunes!

One of the highlights of the night for us was when Musical Mentor participant JC Cruz took the mic to talk about his experience writing and recording music with mentor Sheena Grobb. The Musical Mentor group from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute then put the entire ballroom under their spell when they performed “Gonna Make it” – a song that Sheen Grobb liked so much she recorded it on her latest album. Take a listen here.

Since a picture says a thousand words, we wanted to share some of our faves from the night with you!

Since we announced that David Lindley was receiving our Artistic Achievement Award this year, folks who have been in our office have been praising the talent of the man. Or should we say talents – plural.
