We are so thrilled that The Strumbellas took home the coveted Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group award at the sparkling 2014 JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards held on March 29th at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The award, which we were delgihted to sponsor, was presented by friend of the festival Justin Rutledge. Congratulations to Justin on winning the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Solo award for his album Valleyheart that same evening!
The Strumbellas (We Still Move On Dance Floors) beat out other talented acts: Lee Harvey Osmond (The Folk Sinner), Little Miss Higgins & The Winnipeg Five (Bison Ranch Recording Sessions), The Devin Cuddy Band (Volume One), and The Wilderness of Manitoba (Island of Echoes) for the award.
“We wish to offer a huge congratulations to The Strumbellas on winning this award,” said Lynne Skromeda, Winnipeg Folk Festival Executive Director. “We strongly support Canadian musicians and are thrilled to be celebrating their hard work with this award sponsorship.”
Sponsoring the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group JUNO Award was an exciting opportunity for the Winnipeg Folk Festival to further support all the exceptional roots music being created right here in Canada. Congrats to all the winners!
