Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store Closing Its Doors

Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store Closing Its Doors

After much deliberation, the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store will close its doors on December 31. With the change in music-buying trends, we’ve seen declining revenues over the past few years and have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the store at the corner of Albert and Bannatyne and focus on what we do best – presenting live music in our community.

The store has faithfully served the folk community since 1982, when it opened in its Osborne location as Homemade Music. We want to say a huge thank you to the supporters of the store and hope you'll come down to give it a good send-off during our closing sale.

The blowout sale kicks off today with 30% off CDs, DVDs, records and musical instruments and 60% off 2015 Folk Fest merch. The music store will be open Monday through Saturday all month, and sales of all our fantastic stock will continue until December 31!

BLOWOUT SAVINGS:

December 3 - 12: 30%

December 14 - 19: 40%

December 21 - 26: 50% (*Closed December 25)

December 28 - 31: 60%

Although the store will be closed as of January 1, 2016, we will continue to sell Folk Fest and Hear All Year concert tickets through the Winnipeg Folk Festival offices in the new year.

What's Next?

It is important to us that our community of folk and roots music lovers continues to be served, so we have formed a partnership with Into the Music – a longstanding, independently owned and respected retailer, located in the Exchange District at 245 McDermot Avenue. Into the Music will have a dedicated Winnipeg Folk Festival section and will run the on-site music store at the summer festival in Birds Hill Provincial Park.
