We offer a number of programs both at the Festival and year-round to engage and inspire our folk community.
In Partnership with Arts and Cultural Industries Manitoba, WFF will play host to a group mentorship program for youth age 16-19.
Live Music Stage Management & Tech
Program runs from February 7 – May 10, 2017
Live Music Stage Management will introduce participants to stage set up, stage and show management and sound basics. Participants will work hands on with staging and sound equipment as well as sit in with industry professionals in workshops and panels. All who complete the program will be offered the opportunity to be added to a stage or technical crew at the 2017 Winnipeg Folk Festival.
For additional program information and inquiries contact ACI Manitoba at 204 927-2787
For aspiring musicians, we host music classes at The Folk Exchange and have a program for youth to work one-on-one with Folk Fest performers. We have local musicians go into schools that don't have a sophisticated musical curriculum to explore instrumentation and songwriting with the students.
The Millennium Library is an great, central location for us to host bi-weekly folk concerts. Anyone can come down to one of these free shows and enjoy a Saturday afternoon of festival-style live music!
Another program we offer allows community groups who's members haven't had the opportunity to attend the festival to experience Folk Fest for a day – on us!
