Improving Accessibility

The Winnipeg Folk Fest is proud to provide services that create an easily accessible festival.

  • We offer free admission through an Accessibility Pass to those helping people who need support at the Festival. Please contact our office in advance of buying your ticket for more information.
  • An accessible camping area is available in the Festival Campground.
  • Text versions of selected sections of the program book are available online for screen-reading software.
  • Large-print schedules are available online.
  • Download the Winnipeg Folk Festival App to schedule your Festival experience. The iPhone App from the Apple App store and the Android App from Google Play.

Getting There

  • Check the Festival Express schedule for information on wheelchair accessible buses. This round-trip service from Winnipeg to Birds Hill Provincial Park is free.
  • Service animals are welcome.
  • There is accessible parking located near the Main Gate Box Office and in the Festival Campground.

Once You Get There

  • We’ve installed a low counter at the Main Gate box office.
  • POS Debit machines at Main Gate – low/no vision friendly – have keypads, not touch screens.
  • ATM is accessible for wheelchairs and low/no vision – 37” high; with keypads.
  • Many of the volunteers and all staff have taken the Disability Awareness Resource Training (DART) through the Independent Living Resource Centre.
  • There is a dedicated area for accessible seating at the Main Stage.
  • We have a wheelchair accessible port-a-pottie at every bank. 
  • An accessible toilet is also located near the Main Stage seating area. In order to be able to keep it clean and serviced, it is located behind the stage. Speak to a safety volunteer (in blue vests) at the backstage gate next to the accessible seating area for assistance.
  • Wheelchair charging is available for guests at Audience Services, and at the accessible seating area at Main Stage. Speak to a safety volunteer (in blue vests) for assistance.
  • Sign language interpretation is offered at select daytime stages.
  • Large-print schedules are available at Audience Services during the festival.
  • There is an adult changing facility by the First Aid tent. People should bring their own changing pads, disinfectant and wipes.
  • An accessibility liaison on the Community Folk volunteer crew is located at Audience Services during the festival, ready to help.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival operates environmental sustainability programs at the annual summer Festival at Birds Hill Provincial Park, year round at the office and at events throughout the year. We consciously embrace environmentally responsible business practices and minimizing environmental impact remains a key organizational goal.
