Ticket Exchange FAQ

Children 12 and under are FREE!

Families are the heart of the Winnipeg Folk Festival community. Many fans grew up at the Folk Fest as children of our founding generation in the 70s and 80s and we want to keep the tradition of family alive. So there will be no charge for children 12 and under when accompanied by an adult, even if they’re camping!

Children are 12 and under, youth 13 to 17, and senior is 65 and up.

FAQ

How much are tickets?

Tickets are offered at Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 ticket prices. Be sure to act fast and save! See our ticket pricing for details.

I've purchased a 4-day ticket without camping, can I add camping?

Camping should be purchased at the same time as your 4-Day Ticket. If you purchased a 4-Day ticket without camping but don’t want to miss out on the campground magic you can request camping by emailing info@winnipegfolkfestival.ca and your request for an upgrade will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note, the Tier pricing of your original purchase is not guaranteed. Approved camping ticket will be adjusted to the Tier prices available at the time of the change.

How many tickets can I buy?

Four tickets per person and one RV/trailer permit, if you need one.

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets are available online at frontgatetickets.com or in our office at 203-211 Bannatyne. Remember to buy your tickets before arriving at the Festival as we will not be selling tickets at the gate.

Will there be tickets available at the gate?

No. To reduce congestion at the Main Gate we will not be selling tickets in person at the gate, buy them online before you head to the park.

Tickets are available online at frontgatetickets.com or in our office at 203-211 Bannatyne.

How does the tiered ticketing process work?
  • Tier 1 - A set number of tickets go on sale and are available at this price until sold out.
  • Tier 2 - When Tier 1 tickets are sold out, tickets at this price point become available.
  • Tier 3 - When Tier 2 tickets are sold out, tickets at this price point become available.

As always, the earlier you buy, the more you save.

Ticketing in this way will allow us to better manage Festival revenues and audience sizes to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.

Why does my ticket cost what it does? What about funding and sponsors?

The Winnipeg Folk Festival typically receives less than 10% of revenues from government funding. This means over 90% of the revenues needed each year come from earned revenue – ticket sales and sponsorship support.

Why does the Festival Campground cost more than the Quiet Campground?

It takes significantly more infrastructure and resources to create the Festival Campground. The price of the Festival Campground reflects the additional services and infrastructure we’ve invested in to improve and increase lighting, electricity and first aid. The Festival Campground also requires more security to ensure the safety and well-being of its community.

Is a single day ticket valid for any day?

No. Day tickets are valid only for the day you specify at time of purchase and they cannot be exchanged for a different day.

Do children get in free?

Yes! Children 12 and under are free.

Do you offer a seniors’ discount?

Yes, to those 65 years of age or greater. View prices for Senior tickets on our Tickets page.

What if I change my plans? Can I get a refund?

Sorry, there are no refunds or exchanges.

Can I purchase tickets for someone else under my name?

Yes! We do not check IDs when exchanging tickets for wristbands meaning whoever presents the ticket at the box office will receive the wristband regardless of the name on the account. Once the ticket has been scanned in exchange for a wristband, the ticket is void, the wristband is placed on the presenting patron's wrist and cannot be transferred to another person.

Can I get a refund?

All ticket sales are final except in the situation of a full event cancellation by the Winnipeg Folk Festival.

Subject to the provisions below for an event cancellation, there are no exchanges or refunds once the tickets have been purchased. No exchange or refund will be issued if a Festival performer is changed or if their performance is cancelled, rescheduled or delayed.

In the event of a full event cancellation, the Winnipeg Folk Festival will offer refunds and will inform ticket buyers through its official website about procedures for obtaining a refund.

Help! I lost my tickets!

If you have lost your tickets, please contact Front Gate Tickets Customer Service at Front Gate Tickets Help Desk.

Do children need a camping ticket?

Children 12 and under get in for free and don’t need a camping ticket. Youth 13-17 need a youth camping ticket. Please keep in mind that anyone under 18 needs to camp with an adult.

How do I purchase a ticket with camping?

Quiet Campground tickets and Festival Campground tickets are combined with the 4-day ticket into one single ticket – if you want to camp, you need to purchase a 4-day ticket that includes camping.

Can I remove my wristband?

Wristbands must be worn at all times and shown for entry into Folk Fest campgrounds and the Festival site. Wristbands are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. If your wristband is removed or tampered with, it cannot be replaced, and you will not be allowed entry.

If wristband removal is required for work purposes or if it’s too tight, please visit the Problem Solving line at the Main Gate Box Office.

Why do RVs/trailers need to purchase a separate permit ticket for the Festival’s campgrounds?

We are primarily a tent-camping festival; however, a limited number of RV/Trailer permits are available for purchase separately. There is only so much space, and we cannot change the natural landscape to accommodate everyone who wishes to RV.

The permit ticket is valid only with a Festival or Quiet Campground ticket and only one RV/trailer permit ticket is required per RV/trailer (not per person). RV/trailer permit tickets are exchanged upon arrival for an RV/trailer permit.

When can I purchase an RV/Trailer Permit ticket?

We are primarily a tent-camping festival; however, a limited number of RV/Trailer permits are available for purchase separately. RV/Trailer Permit tickets go on sale in December the same time that Festival tickets go on sale. If you missed out on the RV/Trailer Permit tickets, please sign up for the waitlist.

There will not be a second release of RV Permit tickets.

How does the RV Permit tickets Waitlist Work?

Once the RV Permit tickets are sold out, you can sign up for the waitlist and get a spot in line to access tickets if they become available.

Waitlist tickets will be released as they become available on a first come, first served basis. You will receive the waitlist offer when your turn comes up, should any tickets become available. You are not guaranteed an offer to purchase tickets.

Why Do You Hold Back RV/Trailer Permit Tickets?

As the demand for RV/Trailer permits has increased over the years, they tend to sell out before we can confirm all our internal users, which resulted in a need to hold back a few RV/Trailer Permit tickets. If not all the tickets held are needed, they will be released to the waitlist.

Is there a fee to be on the Waitlist?

The fee of $10 will only be charged if your request for waitlisted tickets is approved. You will NOT be asked to pay a fee upfront when making the request.

The layaway payment plan is not available for waitlist tickets. You will be charged full price at time of purchase.

Can I cancel my Waitlist Request?

You can cancel your request at any time by logging into your Front Gate Tickets account, then selecting “Waitlist” under the “Your Account” tab or by clicking on the“Cancel Request” button in your request confirmation email. Be sure you wish to cancel your request before doing so as cancelling your request cannot be undone.

What happens when your turn comes to buy a waitlist ticket?

If you are offered a ticket you will receive an email and have 48 hours to accept and purchase the ticket. You will be given the chance to accept or decline the ticket. If declined, the ticket will be available to the next patron in line.
